HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – A 44-year-old man was arrested just 82 minutes after smashing a gold shop display case with a concrete brick and stealing 10 gold bracelets in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, with police quickly identifying and apprehending the suspect before he could flee. The suspect, identified as Truong Xuan Huy, a resident of Tan Son Ward, was detained for investigation into robbery after officers from Tan Son Ward police, Criminal Police Division, and Criminal Forensics Division coordinated to examine the scene and collect evidence.

At approximately 1:18 p.m., a masked man wearing a long-sleeved shirt arrived by motorbike at K.H.T. Gold Shop on Nguyen Sy Sach Street in Tan Son Ward, used a concrete brick to smash the glass display case, grabbed 10 18-karat gold bracelets weighing about seven mace (26.25 grams), and fled the scene. Police received the report and immediately cordoned off the area, protecting the scene while working with local police and other units to review the area, trace the suspect's movements, and identify his characteristics and vehicle.

Based on evidence and information collected during the investigation, police identified Huy as the suspect and at approximately 2:40 p.m., just 82 minutes after the robbery, found and arrested him on Ta Quang Buu Street in Chanh Hung Ward. The arrest prevented the suspect from fleeing and helped police recover the stolen property, with authorities recovering the stolen gold and continuing to search for the remaining property while completing the investigation and handling the case in accordance with the law. The swift arrest highlights the effectiveness of coordination between police units in responding to crimes and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice quickly.
