Discover Khao Sok Lake Tours →HANOI — Vietnam's National Assembly has formally ratified the comprehensive investment blueprint for the North-South High-Speed Railway, marking the most ambitious infrastructure endeavor in the nation's modern history.
Connecting the Two Economic Poles at 350 km/h
The 1,541-kilometer dedicated passenger corridor will feature standard 1,435mm gauge twin tracks and 23 passenger stations, traversing 20 provinces and municipalities from the capital Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
"This strategic arterial railway will radically compress spatial barriers, spark regional industrial growth, and position Vietnam among the premier high-speed rail networks in Southeast Asia," stated the Ministry of Transport.
Project Blueprint & Milestones
- Speed & Transit Time: Designed for 350 km/h commercial speeds, shrinking the inter-city journey between Hanoi and Saigon from 32 hours down to 5.5 hours.
- Phased Construction: Priority sections (Hanoi–Vinh and Nha Trang–HCMC) scheduled to break ground by 2027.
- Socio-Economic Impact: Projected to boost national GDP by 1.5% annually during construction and spur green logistics across the central corridor.
International engineering consortia from Japan, South Korea, and Europe have submitted preliminary bids for technological cooperation and localized rolling-stock manufacturing.
