Hiking the Muong Hoa Valley
The scenic trail through Muong Hoa Valley connects the traditional villages of Lao Chai, Ta Van, and Giang Ta Chai. Walkers meander through bamboo forests, bubbling streams, and sweeping amphitheaters of green terraces that turn golden yellow during the autumn harvest in September.
"Staying in a traditional wooden stilt house in Ta Van village, sharing hot herbal foot baths and herbal rice wine with a local family, is the truest way to experience Sapa," notes mountain guide Sung A Pao.
