HANOI, Vietnam – General Secretary and President To Lam has affirmed Vietnam's readiness to serve as a bridge for cooperation and dialogue while contributing more practically to global affairs, in a speech delivered at the Hồ Gươm Opera House in Hanoi on August 28 during a ceremony marking the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The event, held in the capital, commemorated the historic declaration of independence on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the nation's sovereignty to the world.

Vietnam Turns the Spirit of National Day into a Tourist Attraction

Addressing dignitaries, officials, and representatives from various sectors, the top leader highlighted Vietnam's journey from a war-torn nation to a symbol of resilience and development, emphasising the country's transformation over the past eight decades. He underscored the importance of national unity and the collective efforts of the Vietnamese people in building a prosperous and modern society, while also reaffirming the Party and State's commitment to safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Lâm also stressed Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and diversification of international relations, reiterating the country's readiness to take on greater responsibilities in regional and global forums. He called for continued innovation, administrative reform, and sustainable development to meet the aspirations of the people and strengthen Vietnam's position on the international stage.
